As to be expected, the villas in Provence were fabulous. Some were in the countryside and had wonderful grounds with fruit trees and olive trees as well as beautiful pools and gardens. Others were actually in small villages in the Luberon and Les Alpilles so that a guest could walk to the local market to buy fresh vegetables or wine or find “their” new favorite restaurant.

In each case, the homes were beautifully maintained for maximum comfort. None of the country homes was too far from any village or large town to prevent guests from going to a restaurant for dinner or to a local festival. The kitchens in each of the homes were set up for entertaining either for families or a group of adults. For those who like to cook, everything can be supplied upon request.  For the non-cooks, A Season Away can provide the guests with a personal chef for their stay. Our group even had a cooking lesson from the chef! 

Cooking lessons can be arranged by A Season Away, along with a car and driver to take the guests on vineyard tours of the area and many other services such as arranging for golf. One of the great services they provide is dinner at your villa on the day of arrival.  For those who have flown long distance to get to the villa, this is a great way to begin your relaxing villa vacation.

One of the worries I had about renting a villa in Europe was that it was going to turn into a “working” vacation for me, meaning I’d spend all my time shopping for food, cooking, cleaning up after everyone and doing laundry non-stop. I’d already done that at a North Carolina beach holiday a few years earlier with the kids. It was different with A Season Away... the cleaner came three times during each week and we had a private chef twice a week. The other nights we ate out. Sending my husband out for the fresh French baguettes each morning made the entire experience wonderful... we can’t wait to do it again, probably in the Basque Country next time... though Italy keeps calling us back!
