Things to Do with Kids in Chianti
Since Chianti and the cities that surround it – Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca and Arezzo, for example – are the best representation of medieval times and the Renaissance, embrace this as a teaching moment for children.
- Head to the “tower” city of San Gimignano and soak up the history and the reason the inhabitants built a perched village to keep out invaders.
- Almost all of Florence screams the Renaissance, but for kids, head to the Museo dei Ragazzi at Palazzo Vecchio
- Leaning Tower of Pisa
- Most people don’t know this, but Pinocchio was “created” in Tuscany. Kids love to head to Collodi – hometown of Pinocchio. There is an amusement park nearby.
- Chocolate tasting in the Chocolate Valley, near Prato
- See how mozzarella cheese is made from milking the cow to actually shaping the mozzarella
- For older children, there is excellent biking throughout Chianti
- For the teenage girls, there’s nothing quite like heading to the designer outlets outside of Florence and in Val D’Orchia
- Horseback riding throughout the region
- Pizza making
- Go carting in Castelnuovo Berardenga
There are many more options for children, so let our local VillaHosts help plan an itinerary with children in mind.
